Risk Assessment

We can develop all risk assessments and method statements for all work activities within your business. They will be specific to your work activities and reviewed as required.

Legally, risk assessments must be recorded if you employ 5 or more employees. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires you to carry out 'suitable and sufficient' risk assessments of workplace activities.

Chemicals and substances

We can develop all COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Assessments and identify storage solutions of all chemicals to ensure environmental compliance to the Environmental standard ISO 14001.

DSE (Display Screen Equipment)

We can carry out DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessments on all VDU (Visual Display Users).

Ergonomic assessments

Ergonomic assessments can be carried out on equipment and machinery being used by employees. Ergonomic assessments can be carried out on any repetitive work activity such as working on a conveyor belt. Manual Handling assessments can be carried out on any work activity to ensure that employees are not put at risk of musculoskeletal disorders either within the office environment or on site premises.

Call center assessments

We offer a specific package to call centers. This includes:

  • · Competent advice as and when required
  • · Provide a health and safety management system (H&S policy, risk assessments) as required if you employee 5 or more employees
  • · An inspection of the office and building that employees work in and carry out periodic planned inspections of the workplace
  • · Carry out DSE (display screen equipment) assessments on all VDU (visual display units) users
  • · Carry out basic health and safety awareness training covering such topics as acoustic shock, care of head phones, etc
  • · Investigate any accidents/incidents involving employees

Fire risk assessments

We can carry out a fire risk assessment on your premises. This is a legal requirement.

DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) Assessment

We can carry out DDA assessments on your premises to help you ensure that you are in compliance with recent changes with the act.

Occupational health service

An occupational health service can be provided from providing pre – employment medical questionnaires, stress assessments, pregnant worker risk assessment and other services. We can develop polices and standards for example alcohol and drugs policy and stress in the workplace policy.

We can assess the medical health requirements on all your employees to give you an understanding of any medical needs. This is important as specific medical requirements are required when employees work in specific roles such as sewerage workers, nurses, or where employees may be exposed to occupational health risks such as night work, HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome), hepatitis A, chemicals, metals, noise radiation, eye strain etc.

Construction Site HSE Management

We can provide support and advice to help you ensure that all construction legislation is complied with. A project health and safety plan manual can be designed and adapted to your project.

We can appraise and manage Contractors on your behalf to help you ensure they are complying with legislation and not putting your company reputation at risk through breaching health and safety legislation. Protectus can assess all your subcontractors as part of your contractor approval system.

Health and safety policy Development

We can develop a health and safety policy for your business. Legally, the Health and Safety at Work Act, binds employers of 5 or more employees to "...it shall be the duty of every employer to prepare … a written statement of his general policy with respect to the health and safety at work of his employees and the organisation and arrangements … for carrying out that policy."

The law requires that you “revise the statement as often as may be appropriate” any changes in your work environment or in legislation need to be reviewed. The health and safety policy must be dated and signed.

Health and safety management system

We can develop a health and safety management system to OHSAS 18001 specifications for your business. A qualified consultant will assess the hazards and risks to your business and produce the standards and procedures for all work activities. This will include identifying the equipment and machinery used during your work activities.

Inspections and audits

We can carry out a program of inspections and audits to help you measure compliance with legislation and ensure that employees are following standards and procedures on all sites. Regular recorded programmed inspections and audits demonstrate to external authorities your commitment of monitoring the workplace.

Accident investigations

We can carry out accident and incident investigations. Employees involved will be interviewed and statements taken for records. We will liaise with external enforcing authorities as required on behalf of the client.
